Some Spelling to Ponder

So today Don and I realized that we were spelling the name "Anna-Belle" differently. I was spelling it literally, as Annabelle and he was spelling it Anabel. We consulted our baby name book and it turns out that there are 4 ways of spelling her name: 1. Anabel 2. Annabel 3. Anabelle 4. Annabelle. I think that we are leaning toward Anabel now because that seems the easiest to write but Don also likes Anabelle. I want it to be easy for her, but I also don't want to confuse people with some strange spelling.

Also, one of my patient's mom suggested that we spell Elise with a "y", making it Elyse. Her daughter is named Elise and she said that any time they take her to any doctor's or other appointment, they call her Elsie. It doesn't matter as much with the middle name, so I think that I am going to stick with the traditional spelling of the name.

Any thoughts?

Pictures of Today's Sonogram

Here are some pictures of Annabelle from our appointment today with the sonographer.
This picture supposedly shows that she is a girl, I personally have no idea what I am looking at.
This is how the sonographer told us that the baby is a girl, it was very cute!
In case you can't read it, it says:
"Hi Mom and Dad
I am your baby daughter"

Here is a picture of my little yoga baby, she was in the plow position for almost all of the pics.

It's A.....

GIRL!!!!

Don and I went for our sonogram this morning and the sonographer determined that we are having a girl. We could not be more happy right now. More importantly though, she stated that our baby girl is "very healthy", which also made me excited. She was doing yoga and putting herself into the plow position, it was very cute. Also, both the sonographer and Don decided that she looks like me, lucky girl! When I get home tonight, I will post the pics for everyone to see.

One more announcement, her name will be Annabelle Elise Yates

Happy Birthday Emily Grace

My niece Emily, is turning 3. In true Emily style, she caught her hair on fire when trying to blow out her candles. When I called to tell her "happy birthday" all she could say was "I burned"

Fun With Old Wives Tales

Since the day that we find out the gender of our baby is approaching, I thought that I would try out some old wives tales to see if we can predict the gender of our baby. So, here were the results

Old Wives Tale #1: The Pendulum Test
the pendulum moved back and forth, which means I am having a BOY

Old Wives Tale #2: Ancient Chinese Sex-Predictor Chart
According to the very scientific chart found at www.fortunebaby.com, I am having a GIRL

Old Wives Tale #3: How You Look Can Predict The Sex
I gained a lot of weight in the first 3 months and have had lovely bouts of acne, so I am having a GIRL since a girl supposedly "steals your beauty"

Old Wives Tale #4: The Urine Test
Women used to use draino, but today we have the more sophisticated (and by that I mean, expensive) Intelligender. This test supposedly can tell the gender of the baby based on the pH of your urine. The people at www.intelligender.com claim that it is 90% acc in predicting the gender. However, I read many accounts of women who have used this online and they claim it is a scam and it is more like 50% acc. This test predicts that I am having a BOY

So, unfortunately, none of these seem to give me any answers. I guess we will just have to wait until the 29th. Lets all hope the baby cooperates.

Only 16 Days To Go.....

Until we find out what the sex of Baby Yates is! YAY!

I had my January appointment today. They went over all of the blood work from my genetic screen and everything was normal. We scheduled an appointment on January 29th with the sonogram tech to find out the sex of the baby. I cannot wait. I am really ready to start planning and buying stuff (ie doing my American duty to stimulate the economy in these tough times)

Our First Big Baby Purchase

I went out to a couple of stores here in Dallas to LOOK at cribs today. However, one of the stores was having a sale so I ended up actually buying one. I am having a bit of buyers remorse, but I got a convertible crib so I can turn it into a toddler bed and then into a full-size bed. It was worth the money. I just wasn't mentally prepared to make such a big purchase today.

Here is a picture of where our child will be sleeping!

Christmas Vacation 2008

Lucas' Food Montage

I have decided that my nephew Lucas, is going to be a chef. Here are some of the pictures I took of him with various food items on Christmas Eve.

I am not sure what he is eating here, it looks like candy

cutting the carrots and celery with a plastic knife

deciding which craker he wanted to eat

eating the trail mix

poking the cheese log
